Healthcare Law

It is important for social work to provide simple advice based on
knowledge and understanding of healthcare law and to devise adequate
solutions to legal problems.
This module will feature a selection of topics in healthcare law and
social care. The choice of topics is primarily determined by practical
needs. This is closely related to the socialization of healthcare.
Topics covered include patient rights as regulated by the Dutch Medical
Treatment Contracts Act (WGBO), the statutory regulation of healthcare
professions (Wet BIG), professional practice in healthcare, admission of
psychiatric patients and incapacitated individuals, liability for
errors, and so on.
